In October of 2003, we adopted two cats from the Homeless Cat Network, one-year-old brothers named Max and Q*Bert. Q*Bert was originally called Malcolm but we decided we'd get the names mixed up, and plus Q*Bert looks a lot like Cathy s old cat Moose--yet another 'M' name.

They spent the first day hiding behind the toilet but were soon exploring the rest of the house, with Q*Bert leading the way. (Q*Bert is an old computer game, in which a little character jumps around on a 3D pyramid.)

Q*Bert is most definitely the more adventerous of the two, but Max is getting braver as well. They love to chase each other around the house and slide on the throw rugs.
